MASA FALL 2020 REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Hi Parents

MASA FALL 2020 REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Moon Area Soccer Association Fall 2020 registration is now open. Visit our website moonsoccer.org and register your child. Travel registration is open until August 1st and Inhouse registration is open until September 1st. Registration fee is $85.00 per child.

Moon Area Soccer Association (MASA) is a nonprofit, 100% volunteer run youth soccer organization. Our mission is to provide a top-quality soccer experience to the children and families of Moon Township and the surrounding communities. Our goal is to promote and elevate the standards of sportsmanship and fair play among the youth of our community. MASA's philosophy emphasizes development of soccer skills, knowledge of the laws of soccer, and positive sporting behavior. Parental involvement is our strength, and player fulfillment is our ambition.

COVID

We are excited to welcome our players back to the field in the Fall.  MASA will return to play following the strict guidelines set forth by the CDC, the State of Pennsylvania and the local municipalities. While we’re looking forward to get back on the field, we also understand the responsibility we have to provide a safe environment for all of our players and coaches. We will monitor and adjust our protocol weekly based on the updates and changes made by the governing bodies.

Note all coaches will wear masks for the protection of themselves and the players.  Players are NOT required to wear masks during activity but are welcome to. All players must have signed (checked) their registration forms and their waivers during online registration before being able to participate.

Welcome Back! To ensure a safe environment for our players and coaches, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Players Must:

  • Bring and only use their own soccer ball
  • Bring and only use their own water and hand sanitizer
  • Maintain social distancing guidelines of 6’ away from players and coaches
  • Wash their hands before entering the field at the hand washing station or use hand sanitizer
  • Put their bags in the designated areas marked for individual players
  • Enter and exit the field thru the designated areas

Coaches Must:

  • Wear a mask or face covering once exiting the vehicle
  • Wash their hands before entering the field at the hand washing station or use hand sanitizer
  • Maintain social distancing guidelines of 6’ away from players
  • NOT touch the player soccer balls with the hands
  • NOT re-use any scrimmage vests worn by a player until washed and sanitized
  • NOT supply soccer balls for the players

Parents Must:

  • Drop their player(s) off and keep social distance away from other parents, players and coaches.
  • Parents must evaluate their child before practices and games for covid symptoms and updating their team manager webpage (via website or team manager app) by stating that their child is ok for practice. Please do not bring child to practice if child or other close family member is suspected of having covid symptoms.
Please note that MASA board will use their best judgement in regards to player credits if the season is cancelled early due to covid.

Travel / Travel Tryouts
Due to the issues related to COVID, MASA Coaches/coordinators will try their best to assign players to travel teams (no tryouts this year). New U10 players who are interested in Travel Soccer should register ASAP so that teams can be formed and coaches assigned. Again, due to unusual circumstances coaches will try their best to fit your child in the program if possible.

MASA Academy
The MASA board will hold a meeting to discuss the possibility of running the MASA academy in the Fall. More information will come soon.

Season/Schedule

Teams practice one weeknight in the evenings, usually 6-7PM. Teams play up to 8 games during the Fall season. Inhouse games are played on Saturdays between 9AM and 2PM. Practices for the Fall 2020 Season start the week of August 31 (weather dependent). Games for the Fall 2020 season run from September 6 – October 25. Travel games are usually postponed Columbus Day Weekend and travel season extends to November 3rd.

Need Help Registering?
Visit www.moonsoccer.org and create an account if your child has never played. Past registrants should login with the username and password previously created and register child as a participant. First-time users should register as a new user and add your child as a participant. If you are interested in coaching/assistant coaching, please add yourself as a volunteer during the registration process.

Game Shirt Orders
In-House team shirts (2019-2021 Rec Uniform) can be purchased from Soccer.com. Parents will need to purchase both the red and white Augusta Octane Polyester T-shirts (no need to select team or player). If you have the older reversible shirts, they can be used as well (Note that we currently plan to phase these out in Fall 2020 season). If for any reason that shirt deliveries are delayed, then just wear a white shirt and bring a red shirt.

Coaching - Need more Parent-Volunteer Coaches
There are many benefits of volunteering to coach youth soccer: 1) Connect with your child and your community; 2) Teach (and re-learn!) valuable life lessons); 3) Develop new skills; 4) Find a sense of pride as a coach; and 5) Refreshing sense of fun and exercise. For more information about registering to be a MASA coach, please visit our webpage. https://www.moonsoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=361286.

MASA Board
We currently have one position open on the board. If you are interested in improving MASA, please email [email protected].

Capital Improvements
We have recently resurfaced car parks at Minton and Pronto. Furthermore, we now have an active sprinkler system at Pronto which is very useful with the recent Pittsburgh weather!
