Hi Parents,

Due to unprecedented current events, PA West has canceled Spring 2020 League Play

At this point, the board is scheduling a time to convene and finalize plans.  Once completed, MASA will provide information in regards to registration fees etc.

Details from PAWest

It’s with regret PA West Soccer has to share that we are cancelling our spring competitions.

Due to the Commonwealth’s “Stay At Home” directive and the unknown length of time it may take for social distancing requirements to permit gatherings that would allow us to return to play, it has been decided to cancel league play, the State Cup, the Presidents Cup, and the Open Tournament.

In addition to the concern over requirements and limitations set forth by the various governmental agencies, the availability of fields once return to play is permitted is also uncertain.  Many member clubs rely on school district and/or municipal fields and facilities that are currently closed for the foreseeable future.

Our suspension of all other activity has been extended until June 1, 2020.  This would include any in-person gatherings like team training, individual training, coaching education courses, and ODP activities.

PA West Soccer is working on an alternate summer session for clubs interested in providing activities once the restrictions are lifted.  The details are to be determined and will be made in accordance with any recommendations or requirements from the CDC or PA Department of Health.

Best Practices for Health:

There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus (Covid-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
